For the first 2 weeks Zoe is now concentrating on caring for and feeding.
A gentle push with the nose - and the pup get thoroughly licked.
The mother's tongue washes and massages and helps the pup to pass faeces and urine. She cleans up everything.
Suckling - also called "lick-suckling": The puppy's tongue close around the nipple like a "groove" and extracts the contents of the teat by massaging it. The rhytmic, kneading movement of the front paws working on the mammary glands and the suckling are linked together.
Not only the puppies also Zoe needs some feeding.
While Zoe is away for a wee the puppies have to stay in a cardboard box where the floor is heated!
