1st September 2017 There are so many new things for a six months old dog – the sea and more…! For the first time Fake is allowed to visit together with Tara the beach at Redcar... ...and she marvels at the seemingly endless wideness. Redcar & Cleveland's coastline is one of the longest unbroken stretches of beach in the United Kingdom. While Tara is enjoying the change of ground... ...her grand-daughter is so thrilled... ...and enjoys the salty water. What a nice trip and almost no people! Here at Levisham we meet no one at all... ...but we enjoy another kind of "seemingly endless wideness". But sorry - why this signboard? O.k.! THAT is a reason... ...impressive, isn't it? Also sheep need to have some peace and quiet - and therefore we keep the dogs on the lead. On the contrary there is no need for a leed at all for Daniel and the gang at Bransdale... ...grouse picking-up - you need no other words! No picking-up but a little bit of education: On the "other side" of Bransdale Malu is visiting with Fake and Tara the Cawthorn Roman Camp. Cawthorn Camps is one of the archaeological treasures of the North York Moors. Nearly 2,000 years ago, a detachment of Roman troops built here a temporary fort. Amazingly, its defensive banks and ditches remain largely intact. A long time ago the soldats have been chopping wood here,... ...or practicing their combat skills or many other things. By the way: the big forestry plantations are a 20th century development therefore the Romans could have had a much better view. There are still several places with a nice view - for example to Elleron Lake ... .. and wouldn't it be great to have a swim at this romantic place? Inquiries showed that the lake is owned privately and it is full of trout. The message: "step foot through the gate and run the risk of been shot if your not invited" says it all! Oh well! Better to visit the viewing platform... ...and to enjoy the gorgeous view! Until now you have a clear view north across the moors (not as far as Bransdale but at least up to Spaunton Moor) and south over the Vale of Pickering. And yes - every now and then the whole gang meets each other: time for a picture (Tara, Dido, Ziva, Duffy, Fake and Zoe).
