2nd May 2021 April 2021: Frost, strong winds, chill and sun… April was the frostiest month in the UK for at least 60 years. We had the lowest average minimum temperatures since 1922,... ...as air frost and clear conditions combined... ...for a frosty, chilly month, despite a lot of sunshine. Result: dryness in the garden,... ...frost damage... ...drought everywhere (48% more sunshine hours than April's average). The long period of dry conditions was "only" interrupted by few days of wintry showers... ...and snow on the moors! A week later: Fire warnings everywhere! All these conditions damaged quite a lot of plants... ...and everything had to be watered. Regardless of the weather, Dido and Duffy "celebrated"(unknowingly) their 10th birthday... ...and the lambing season has started. Lambs everywhere... ...enjoying the spring! Sheep, lambs, rabbits and pheasants together - what a peaceful coexistence. A lot of pheasants "survived" the shooting season. They have no restrictions and food everywhere. Still restrictions for us - but there is some relief on the horizon!
