Brontė

The weather changes quite often and connected with it the ambience. It is fascinating – like “Brontė-spirit”!

The intensive colours and the combination of light and shadow constitute the magical attraction of this landscape.

These changes of mood ot the nature are reflected by the work of the three Brontė sisters  Anne, Emily  and Charlotte . They lived in the first half of the 19th century at Haworth - in Yorkshire! More information about Brontė-Country: www.bronte-country.com

They haven't published very much, but their novels still belong to the classics of English literature (in Germany they are not famous at all). In the Anlo-Saxon part they are as well known as novels and filmings of Rosamunde Pilcher.

Similar to the variations of nature, the Brontė's described in episodes out of their life and phantasie the shady side of Victorian morals and contradiction.

The most known of their work are  Emily Brontė's "Wuthering Heights ", Charoltte Brontė's "Jane Eyre"   and Anne Brontė's "Agnes Grey".

All three sisters died young.

Anne Brontė (1820 - 1849),  died in Scarborough and is buried in St Mary's churchyard below the castle.
