24 Dog Open A.V. Retriever Stake of the Northumberland and Durham Labrador Retriever Club

For the Open trial on the 15th/16th of October 2009 Tara got the number 22 (out of 24). This time the journey was a little bit longer: Northumberland, Whitfield Estate.

Whitfield Estate is one of the UK's leading shooting areas which provides clients with Grouse, Pheasant and Partridge Shooting.

The judges John Drury, Alan Fryer, Ron Jeffery and Graham Stanley did judge the dogs on grouse, phesants, hares, rabbits and partridges.

Tara's turn was very late and she had to be sent directly on a strong runner! She did a very good and spectacular work and returned with the pheasant cock - a very good starting position!

For the second day there have been 11 dogs left - among them also Tara. In the 5th round she succeeded again with an excellent retrieve: a partridge on the other side of the valley! With just one command she went up and down for about 150 meters, then Daniel could bring her in the area and she picked the bird!

The final result was very close: winner was  Ian Glaister with Gablegorst Inca, second Daniel and Tara!

Beside being 2nd Tara got also the awards of "Guns choice" and "Best Dog on a Runner"!

Ranking:

1. Ian Glaister & Gablegorst Inca

2. Daniel Marx & Lockthorn Tara

3. Jim Swindlehurst & FTCH Millcottage Pathfinder

4. John Lees & Delfleet Huckleberry
